Interactive Store Planner

2004

This was a project I worked on as a contractor at Kaleidoscope for two large retailers. It’s a tool for visualizing product layout and possible concern area’s for theft. I was responsible for designing and programming an interface which utilized 3D “zooms” and “rotations” created by Joe and Mark at Kaleidoscope. Users can view different areas of the store by clicking on the 3d map. There’s also a series of cameras which, when clicked, show a series of VRs at the selected spot on the map. This was one of my first big projects, where I was working with assets created by other artists and integrating them with my own graphics, animations, and programming. The design was first created in Photoshop and then re-drawn as vectors in Flash 5. I then edited and sized numerous 3D clips in After Effects and then created interactive “VRs” for the interface. The interface was then animated and programmed in Flash.
